Reel Eats

Monsoon Wedding & Culinary Adventure to India - Saturday, April 21st, 2012, 4-10 pm, $125/$145 pp + HST

The Culinary Adventure Company is thrilled to team up with Reel Eats to bring to you a truly unique event inspired by the rich culture and tradition of India.

Our adventure begins with a Culinary Adventure Company walking food tour through Toronto's Little India where you will sample some fabulous Indian delicacies and learn about the evolution of the area, one of the largest South Asian markets in North America.

Then, we whisk you off to a fabulous event created by our good friends at Reel Eats.  Here we will engage all your senses as we celebrate food, film and storytelling 'Monsoon Wedding' style...where we stay true to the tradition of serving a vegetarian meal after an Indian wedding ceremony.

The Menu

  • Apricot Black Lentil Soup with Masala Spices
  • Pappadum Wafers
  • Roasted Cashew Curry with Cauliflower and Peas
  • Saag Paneer - Indian cheese in a creamy sauce with spinach
  • Mattar Rice Pullao - Basmati rice with peas
  • Channa Masala - Chick pea curry
  • Vanilla Coconut Chai Spiced Ice Cream with Sliced Mangos

The meal will be prepared by two amazing guest Chefs.  Nettie Cronish, natural and organic food chef, culinary instructor and cookbook writer, Nettie has been the resident cooking instructor at The Big Carrot Natural Foods store in Toronto as well as instructed classes at a host of Toronto culinary avenues.  Her articles and recipes can be found in many publications including Chateline Magazine, Canadian Living, Food and Drink and The Globe & Mail, as well as in her own books, the latest being 'Everyday Flexitarian'.  Joining her in the kitchen will be Preena Chauhan of Arvinda's Spices.  These wonderful masalas and spices are unique blends that provide a truly authentic Indian cooking experience.

Escape the City....Canoe and Beach Dining Adventure (2012 Season) - Tuesday Evenings (May to September) 6:30 to 10:30, $135/pp + HST

PaddlersJoin us on a leisurely paddle to the beautiful Toronto Islands in a heritage freighter canoe, a replica of the ones used by early Canadian settlers. Once we hit the shore.....we will feast on a gourmet dinner picnic then relax on the island. As the sun sets, we will board our canoes and paddle back to the city, taking in the magnificent skyline view from the water as darkness falls....you will see the city as you've never seen it before. Upon returning to shore, our Chef will treat you to a fabulous night time Flambé dessert demonstration to satisfy your sweet tooth.  Basket of Mushrooms

Mushroom Forage and Gourmet BBQ (Spring - Sunday, May 27th, 2012 & Autumn - Sunday, October 7th, 2012) 9:00am to 1:30pm $50/pp + HST

Learn the basics of foraging as we explore the Don Valley in search of wild mushrooms, leeks, fiddleheads & edible plants. Our expert guide will share his many years of knowledge and point out interesting plants and animals (maybe) as we hunt for these gourmet treasures. Although we cannot guarantee success, we do guarantee a funfilled morning in the great outdoors, some mild to medium physical activity and a tasty gourmet lunch prepared by our chef. You even get to keep what you find and we'll throw in some delicious recipes for you to try at home. Space for this event is limited to 24 participants, so  reserve now to avoid disappointment! Come enjoy the great outdoors & learn about nature's bounty....all just minutes from downtown. Seafood in the Sky II - Friday July 27th, 2011 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm ($125/pp + HST)Seafood in the Sky

Join us for this one night only Seafood Extravaganza!!!  Our Chef embraces his Maritime roots and years of experience in five-star northern Canadian fishing lodges to prepare a fantastic and succulent 7-course seafood feast.  He marries freshly caught Bay of Fundy lobster (24 hours from ocean to table, thanks to his friendships with East Coast fishermen), with sustainable fish and seafood from Hooked Inc, adds a sprinkling of gorgeous city skyline view, and serves it up on the rooftop of a downtown condo.  Dine with us under the night sky with a spectacular view of the CN Tower in all its dazzling colour, and hear the Chef's stories of life in the Canadian north.  It's the perfect setting for a unique seafood culinary experience and the closest thing to dockside dining you will find in the city.
